Digging menswear for the home

I love all different types of decor for a home.  I wouldn’t say I’m set in one style whatsoever because each home has its own personality. That’s like saying I only eat broccoli with my chicken or something like that!   I love mixing antiques with modern decor or throwing in shabby chic to the mix.

What I’ve been really liking lately is this masculine style in decorating.  I watched Property Brothers one night on HGTV and they used a certain wallpaper in one of their renovations and then a few weeks later I saw it on The Nate Berkus show.  It’s simple enough if you’re scared of wallpaper but versatile enough where it won’t go out of style anytime soon.  It’s by Graham & Brown.  I’m considering using it in our next project- the FROG (finished room over garage) which will be a 5th bedroom/playroom.  I think it will make a great accent wall considering we have two large leather club chairs that my husband refuses to sell!

Next is this come back trend of hounds tooth.  It makes me laugh because a couple of years ago I found this fabulous Hounds tooth fabric on clearance ($8 a yard!) at a local fabric store and upholstered these two wing back chairs that I bought for $15 at Goodwill.  I used them for staging in one of my listings and then a few years later I put them in my furniture booth and they sold so quickly!  I almost wished I still had them for this home now! Since I don’t have them I may go with this pillow because my color palette for this home is similar.

So for a little change- try a little menswear- we woman do it with our blazers when we dress so why not try it in your home too!
