Hot Paint Colors for Summer 2013
Grab your paint brush and roller; it’s time to paint! Usually our first instinct is to search through the latest neutral hues or resort to a ‘safe’ color we’ve applied to other homes or walls. My favorite white is Benjamin Moore Moonshine as it always makes any room look clean.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this approach, and you always have the option to add color variety with vibrant accents like pillows, rugs and throws.
…May I dare you to be a little bold?
While grey and white are my go-to neutrals, it’s fun to play with softer colors like lilac, which is quickly becoming the “new neutral” as it adds excitement without being too crazy.
I’m currently adding a splash of lilac to an interior decorating project in downtown Charleston. Paired with a masculine look – dark couch, shag rug, tall ceiling-high curtains – the light contrast makes the room refreshing and inviting. This is also a great approach for pleasing both the male and female in the family.
Other hot colors to consider include pink, light blue or navy.
Just remember that colors change throughout the day – morning sunshine and light vs. evening darkness can make a wall color look different. Test a sample of your chosen color in a well-lit space and check it both times of day to make sure you are pleased with your selection.
So, what is your favorite wall color right now? My Facebook fans chimed in…
Benjamin Moore Tapestry Beige (CBID Home Decor & Design) |
Sherwin Williams Oyster Bay (de Jong Dream House) |
Shewin Williams Amazing Gray (Bobvilla) |
Would you consider a pink, lilac or blue for your wall? Which room? Let me know if you need help making a selection. I love doing paint consultations.
