I was thrilled to be asked to help with this kitchen. This space belongs to one of my nearest and dearest friends. We have been in one another’s wedding, we were there for one another when we both had our children and now she helps me to do a lot of marketing. She has alway supported me whole heartedly in my career. So needless to say, making this space amazing for her was very important to me.

I helped her and her husband buy this house. It was a little bit of a fixer upper. But over time, it has become an amazing home.

This was the kitchen for about 2 years before this renovation happened.

The first and most important step in this design was to find a way to open up the space without losing too much storage. I had to take down that huge divide between the living room and the kitchen, but I added floor to ceiling cabinets in areas and counter to ceiling cabinets to give more space.

And, I wanted to have fun by mixing two cabinet colors. The bottom cabinets are a gray color, called web gray by Sherwin Williams, but in different lighting it looks almost steel blue. And the upper cabinets are decorators white.
And this beautiful turkish rug was a fun find to mix things up a bit.

I was SO thrilled when they asked for brass in the kitchen. We ordered these beautiful hardware and this faucet.

I don’t why, but I wanted a white hood for this space and when we came across this one, I knew it was the one. The wooden trim tied into the barstools and the mantel from the living space. The tile I wanted simple, a white porcelain tile and in a herringbone pattern was just the right touch for this back wall.

These lights and counter stools rock! I was in love the second I saw them!

Still left on the project is the little breakfast nook. There are plans to turn those windows into french door and create an amazing outdoor space. But, in the mean time, a cute little white table, bench chairs, art and fabulous lighting will have to do.
